Time Control guide

Time Control is the timecard: each person books hours and overtime by day to the activities of the projects they are onboarded to, submits the week, and an approver approves it. Approved time flows into the Planner's actuals.

Who uses it

Time Control is at /time/. It uses the same account and workspace as the Planner. Without signing in it shows a read-only demo with illustrative projects and people.

Onboarding

A person books time only to the projects they are on. Under Onboarding, an approver picks a workspace member, a project, a trade (the Planner's resource code, such as MECH) and whether they are a worker or an approver, and onboards them. The trade travels with every line they book, so the Planner can match hours to the right resource. Take a person off a project when they leave it; their history stays.

People must be members of the workspace first: invite them from the Planner's cloud panel.

The Time-off allowances table at the bottom sets each member's vacation and sick hours for the year (120 and 40 by default) and shows what they have used.

The timecard

  1. Pick the week. Weeks run Monday to Sunday; the arrows move a week, "This week" returns to today.
  2. Add activities. + Add activity lists your projects and their activities by ID, name and WBS; open activities by default. Copy last week's rows brings last week's activities over without the hours.
  3. Enter hours. Regular hours in the upper box of each day, overtime in the lower one. Totals by day and by row update as you type. A row can carry a short note.
  4. Save keeps a draft. Submit for approval sends the week to the approvers.

A submitted week can still be edited; it goes back to draft and must be submitted again. An approved week is locked. A returned week shows the approver's note at the top; fix it and submit again.

Your profile

The panel beside the timecard is the worker's own page:

Review and approval

Approvers open Review to see submitted weeks with the person, projects, hours and overtime. Opening a week shows every line by day. Approve locks it; Return sends it back with a note, which the worker sees on their card. "All" shows every week, approved and returned too.

Below the timecards, Time-off requests lists the pending requests with the person, type, dates and hours. Approve or decline each with an optional note; the decision and the note appear in the worker's profile, and approved hours count against their balance.

Into the Planner

In the Planner's Actuals panel, the Import tab's From Time Control… button pulls the approved lines booked to the open project (matched by project ID) as timesheet rows: date, worker, trade, activity ID, hours and overtime. Review the mapping and import; the lines become the actual hours and cost on the assignments, in a batch that can be removed. The same lines export as CSV from the Review screen.
